Mexican Pizza

This is my version of Mexican pizza, but don't get it confused with taco pizza, that's with dough lol. Yes, I actually have a difference =) This sorta thing is what happens when you're trying to get everything in the fridge used up so you can grocery shop. It's another fast and easy meal even the hubby could make by himself!

MEXICAN STYLE PIZZA

Yield: 4 Tortillas

INGREDIENTS

torillas
1 pound precooked seasoned meat
cheese (I recommend shredded pepperjack or Colby jack)
1 small can refried beans
lettuce
tomatoes
salsa or verde
sour cream
guacamole
jalapenos

DIRECTIONS

Prepare your torillas by pan frying one side of each of the tortillas to they will not be soggy once the toppings are added. Place the non fried side of the tortilla down on a foil lined cookie sheet. Layer the refried beans first, then meat, cheese, and any of the ingredients that you would like to melt together.

Bake at 350℉ for 20 minutes.

With a pizza cutter, slice into manageable portions. Carefully remove the pizzas with a spatula and place onto your serving plate. Add all of your cold toppings such as tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole.

ENJOY!

Banana Bread

As I'm typing this my house smells better than any candle you could imagine! I'm baking banana bread =) When I came home with a small mountain of bananas, Scott asked if I was going on some strange banana diet. When I said I was making banana bread he insisted that I find a recipe that tasted just like Bob Evans. Um yeah. I'm going to go right in and sweet talk their baker into just handing over the recipe. So I googled and googled, and even binged. I came across the following recipe and all I have to say is I hope it tastes as good as it smells and the batter tasted!! Because nobody was home I got to lick the bowl and spoon all by myself. The original recipe can be found here. There is a ton of recipes posted on the site.

Bob Evans Banana Nut Bread
(Copycat Recipe)

Makes 1 Loaf

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
11/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 or 4 very ripe bananas, mashed (use 4 if bananas are small)
1/2 cup walnuts, optional

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. With an electric mixer, mix shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. In another bowl mix together the flour, baking soda, salt and bananas. Add to egg mixture. Add nuts and mix. Spoon batter into a greased 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until tested done.

At first I was a little worried about not having any spices in here. I was thinking some cinnamon and nutmeg would make it more "seasonal", but they aren't needed. Wow, this bread is just fine the way it is! Will definately be trying more recipes from this site =)

Taco Cups

An easy, less messy way to enjoy tacos! The best part is each of them can be customized for the picky eater in your life!

EASY TACO CUPS

Yield: 9 Cups

INGREDIENTS

won ton wrappers
1 pound precooked seasoned meat
cheese (I recommend shredded pepper jack or colby jack)
lettuce
tomatoes
salsa
sour cream
guacamole
beans (either refried or black)
jalapenos

DIRECTIONS

I criss-crossed two wrappers in each spot in a cupcake pan. Bake at 350 for 5 minutes so the cup won't become soggy when you add the meat. Add precooked meat, cheese, salsa, and any other items that you would like to have melt together. Place back in oven and bake for another 10 minutes or until the edges of the wrapper becomes crispy.

Carefully remove each cup out of the pan and place on serving plate. Add all of your cold toppings such as tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole.

ENJOY!

Peanut Butter Cake - The Best Ever!!!!

And when I say the best ever, I really, truly mean it. You have to trust me, I ate over half the cake myself lol. I couldn't help it, I just kept hearing it call to me in the kitchen. Where did I stumble upon such an example of yumminess you may ask? At The Girl That Ate Everything. I didn't change the recipe at all, but I did use a different pan. I switched out to a 9x13 and upped the baking time to 25 minutes. Hubby did suggest an addition of chocolate. Maybe syrup drizzled over a piece in some fashionable style? You can find the recipe here, and let her know I sent ya!

A picture fresh out of the oven. And yes, I bake at night so the pic is dark.

The only problem that I had was the icing. When I mixed it, the powdered sugar lumped like crazy. I poured it in slow while still mixing, so I don't know if it was older than I thought or mix was too hot. Didn't change the taste of the icing at all though =)

Two thousand one, nine eleven

Two thousand one, nine eleven

Three thousand plus arrive in heaven
As they pass through the gate,
Thousands more appear in wait
A bearded man with stovepipe hat
Steps forward saying, "Lets sit, lets chat"

They settle down in seats of clouds
A man named Martin shouts out proud
"I have a dream!" and once he did
The Newcomer said, "Your dream still lives."

Groups of soldiers in blue and gray
Others in khaki, and green then say
"We're from Bull Run, Yorktown, the Maine"
The Newcomer said, "You died not in vain."

From a man on sticks one could hear
"The only thing we have to fear.
The Newcomer said, "We know the rest,
trust us sir, we've passed that test."

"Courage doesn't hide in caves
You can't bury freedom, in a grave,"
The Newcomers had heard this voice before
A distinct Yankees twang from Hyannisport shores

A silence fell within the mist
Somehow the Newcomer knew that this
Meant time had come for her to say
What was in the hearts of the five thousand plus that day

"Back on Earth, we wrote reports,
Watched our children play in sports
Worked our gardens, sang our songs
Went to church and clipped coupons
We smiled, we laughed, we cried, we fought
Unlike you, great we're not"

The tall man in the stovepipe hat
Stood and said, "Don't talk like that!
Look at your country, look and see
You died for freedom, just like me"

Then, before them all appeared a scene
Of rubbled streets and twisted beams
Death, destruction, smoke and dust
working just 'cause they must

Hauling ash, lifting stones,
Knee deep in hell, but not alone
"Look! Blackman, Whiteman, Brownman, Yellowman
Side by side helping their fellow man!"

So said Martin, as he watched the scene
"Even from nightmares, can be born a dream."

Down below three firemen raised
The colors high into ashen haze
The soldiers above had seen it before
On Iwo Jima back in '44

The man on sticks studied everything closely
Then shared his perceptions on what he saw mostly
"I see pain, I see tears,
I see sorrow -- but I don't see fear."

"You left behind husbands and wives
Daughters and sons and so many lives
are suffering now because of this wrong
But look very closely. You're not really gone.

All of those people, even those who've never met you
All of their lives, they'll never forget you
Don't you see what has happened?
Don't you see what you've done?
You've brought them together, together as one.

With that the man in the stovepipe hat said
"Take my hand," and from there he led
three thousand plus heroes, Newcomers to heaven
On this day, two thousand one, nine eleven

Your Soap Opera Name?

So I'm catching up on literally thousands of emails.  I put all of my blog update emails in one folder, and am reading the rest now.  A friend posted a link to find out your soap opera name.  Mine is Veronica Norville and Scott's is Mordecai Drake.  His sounds more exotic than mine, I think I'm jealous.  Are ya curious?  Go here to compare.

What We've Accomplished

Since moving into the money pit, I've decided we are going to be next moving into the poor house.

When the bank had the house dewinterized, the lackey that they sent out broke the kitchen faucet and left the water faucet in the garage on.  So, the water was at least already cleared for us, in a big way you could say.  And the garage floor was clean in that spot lol.

I have decided that I love Lowe's.  More so than the clothing store that I usually frequent so much that they know my name, and have occasionally put stuff back when it comes in because they know it will be on my must have list.  So you know Lowe's must be good.  No they aren't sponsoring me, but you know, that is such an awesome idea. Hey Lowe's!!!  I've already spent about $2000 in your stores, could ya send me a gift card?!?!?!  Gee, I'm not shy am I =)

We had to buy a kitchen faucet, a bathroom faucet because the guests can't wash their hands in that one either, a garage door opener (they took the brackets when they moved), all new door locks, a bathroom fan (the old one sounded like a tornado), and a huge pile of other little goodies.  I was actually in a Lowe's three times the first week in the house.

We also had to buy a fridge because there wasn't one.  That was my housewarming giftie from Mom, a brand new toy for me.  OMG...I LOVE my fridge now too!!!  Then when we turned on the stove to cook my first meal in my new home...holy cow...the stove smokes...that's prolly not supposed to do that.  So I have a new stove too.  I know I've hit domestic blissdom when new kitchen appliances make me as happy as puppy kisses!!!

Moving Day

Friday morning was going to be a good day.  The movers were coming at 9:30 and I was coming home from work at 11:30 and was going to supervise where stuff went.  I can do that.

So much for how things are supposed to go.  So on top of signing three weeks late, the carpet cleaner couldn't make it on Wednesday, so he rescheduled for Saturday.  Ok, so now what do I do with all the freaking furniture?!?!?!

Brings me back to that wonderful day in history...the day the movers CANCELLED!!!  Yep, you read that right.  I'm at work anxiously waiting for 11 am on the dot, and at 10:45 I get a text that the movers cancelled.  HUH?  Some days Scott's sense of humor just kills me.  Nope, he wasn't kidding.  When they didn't show up at 9:30, he started calling at 9:45 to see if they were lost.  No answer.  At 10:45, the guy calls and says that he's so overbooked that he can't make it, maybe Saturday.  SATURDAY?!?!??!  So Scott calls his cousin and I call my mom and I get out the cold water.  The cold water is because it's over 100ยบ out and nobody's getting sick or fainting til this is done.

Using the motorcycle trailer and our open trailer, they (meaning the boys because ain't no way I'm getting in their way) load up appliances and furniture.  After two loads, they have it.  We kept most of the furniture off the carpet for carpet guy and my garage couldn't even get a dust bunny to fit in there now.

I actually had my whole kitchen 95% set up and in working order by the end of Saturday.  A lot of it got done on Friday.  My mom stayed and cleaned the old place so I could get the new one up and running.  She did such a wonderful job that I don't remember it being that clean, and I wanted to move back in.  Apparently that was frowned upon.

The carpet cleaner did a nice job.  Most of the house has an almost white carpet, I guess you would call it alabaster.  I call it a giant mistake waiting to happen.  Somebody raised two teenagers in this house, WHY WHITE CARPET?!?!?!  Our basement has two finished rooms, one half done, and then the storage room where the water softener is.  He told us it would be cheaper to replace the carpet than clean it down there.

And the projects begin lol.

I'm So Far Behind...

...that I'm not sure I even see my behind anymore lol. There is so much to say, but I don't even know where to begin. We did find a house, couldn't remember if I told you or not. Which is why I have been not posting. It's not like the house won't let me, it's just I've either been busy, or just flat out pooped. We had to be out of old place by the 25th of June. Because of the HOA turning in random bills to the bank that needed to be resolved, they delayed our signing by three weeks. Apparently the last homeowner never paid them, plus the house was vacant for a year or so. I was so utterly frustrated you wouldn't believe.

Scott didn't sign on the house until the exact day we were supposed to out. When he texted me the picture of the keys, I almost cried. I think if I wasn't at work I would have. We were getting charged $50 a day for every day we ran over so we were putting in eighteen hours days to get out. We have an enclosed motorcycle trailer that we had loaded and ready to go the whole time. It was just parked in the driveway patiently waiting to be unloaded. Unlike most couples, this is only our third move in 19 years. The last place we had been in for seventeen years, so I had accumulated enough to qualify for hoarders! I looked at websites, listened to friends, but it still didn't go well

Everything we had out of the old place within two days except for the furniture. Why that is such a miracle is Scott wasn't coming home from work until eight at night (he works twelve hour shifts). So when I was getting home at four, I was busting my tail to get the trailer loaded with another load. Since we were moving during the week, I didn't want to ask friends to devote all those late nights to help, so I only had my mom helping. Poor Mom

So if you're still with me, you don't want to miss the next post...the Friday moving tale was a blast =)

Memorial Day Weekend...The End

I worked Monday morning but because we were soooooo slow and nothing was breaking, I ended up getting sent home way early at 10 a.m.  I took advantage of the earliness and helped Scott throw out a lot of junk that we just weren't going to need at the new house.  We really didn't need it where we were either lol.  I'm such a hoarder at times.  He washed and waxed the bike for the second day in a row (sorry honey) so we could go for a ride.

He thinks it's great that I'm home early because now we can go to lunch.  We pass every single restaurant that I can think he could want, and by 45 minutes later, I'm hungry and the curiosity is killing me.  We've been wanting to go to Melt Bar & Grilled forever, so he was trying to surprise me.  Three quarters of the way there he realized that he didn't have the location in the GPS so we had to pull over and he had to confess his intentions of surprise.  He takes a lot of pride in surprising me, just sometimes he forgets to do the research lol.  I think it's so sweet though ♥  I looked up their address and was sad to find out they were closed because of the holiday.  I'm dying to try this place.  Back on the bike to find somewhere else.  About a half hour later and not finding anything open other than fast food, we tried a little home style restaurant.  Great food, lousy service.  Our waitress had friends in there and they were discussing some concert they were going to after work.  After ten minutes of riding, Scott isn't feeling well.  I'm starting to think it's not the heat, it's me.  We took the expressway home and he sacked out on the couch for four hours.  I know he was sick when he's napping and the tv isn't on.  I hope he starts feeling better soon.  It's no fun annoying him when he's sick =)

Soooooo....that was my busy weekend.  I have a sick hubby and a sunburn.  How was yours?

Memorial Day Weekend...The Middle

Sunday was my niece Kayla's graduation.  I'm so proud of her!  I worked five hours so I could be there to watch her walk across the stage.  Her graduating class was only 60 students!!  I don't know if it's a recent idea, or maybe in the dark ages my school didn't do it, but as they walked across the stage they also had someone reading their future plans.  When I graduated in the 90's, I don't remember a lot of the kids going to college, most either went to work, in the service, and quite a few of the girls started on their families.  I couldn't believe the amount of kids in her class going to college.  I felt really bad for some of them because all you heard was engineer, medical, even heard aeronautics, but what about the kids that are going to work because they just couldn't afford college?  I hope they didn't feel left out.  Either way, you should be proud that you made it through the torture of high school!

Her dad took us out to one of my favorite restaurants as a celebratory dinner.  This particular restaurant has the best manicotti in the whole world, yes I'm convinced =) and the bread...*sigh* definitely droolworthy.  The guest of honor had a slice of the most decadent chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream that she couldn't finish, you know I volunteered to help!!  Unfortunately, Scott still wasn't feeling well so we went home and took an hour or so nap, then took the bike out for a ride.

We were about 45 minutes from home at a park watching the rain across the lake.  Hum...maybe we should have taken the sign.  I bring up the weather on my phone and the storms looked like they were going to pass us.  A riding we go.  About 15 minutes later, I bring up the weather again.  In my most calm voice I say "Honey, the you are here thingie is in the middle of a storm...we need to go home NOW!!!"  Yes, that was my calm voice.  We come up to this light and I feel a raindrop, next thing I know it was lots of raindrops and there was lots of thunder and lightning.  Thank you to the bank that was right at the corner that we hid under their drive thru.  After it passed, we hopped back on and about ten minutes down the road everything was dry as a bone.  Hadn't seen a drop.  So his pretty washed and waxed bike is now a little on the dirty side.  I was so sleepy that after my shower, I crawled into bed at 10:30 with Puppy and we both snored until he came to bed an hour later.

Memorial Day Weekend...The Beginning

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  I know a lot of you worked on your abodes, kudos to you!!  I had a busy weekend myself, but most of it was spent not at home sucking up my a/c.

First off let me sing to my love of my life...you may want to cover your ears..."Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Scott, Happy Birthday to you!"  You can uncover your ears now.  He's finally hit the 40 mark...I'd post a pic but he'd kill me.  He must not think he's as sexy as I think he is ♥

Friday night after work we went to dinner with the in laws since Scott's aunt is in town.  Just a quick bite of Italian and back home because Scott hasn't been feeling well.  I think the heat and long work hours are starting to get to him.  He also may be a "little" stressed...I swear I have nothing to do with it!

Saturday we went to the farm so he could mow down some of the paths and I could spend quality time with my LaylaBooBoo.  OMG...it was in the 90's and I thought I was going to melt...think the witch from "Alice in Wonderland"...that's the movie right?  "I'm melting, I'm melting".  I spent a lot of time watching Puppy play in the streams and ponds on the property.  Makes me wish I hadn't packed up all my shorts and bathing suits.  I would have loved to hop in with her.  Scott has such horrible luck that he burnt up the brand new belt he put on the mower (grass was just too thick) and his atv isn't running right.  As in, it runs for a bit, then you walk home.  It's old (10 years maybe?) and it's not like you maintenance those things on a regular basis.  He didn't get much accomplished except for being agitated.  We had hot dogs and sloppy joes for dinner which after about three hours I decided that I wasn't going to keep if you get my drift.  I was heat sick in a horrible way.  The migraine I had wasn't helping.  Didn't get to bed til 1 am, and up again around 6 because I work on Sundays.  These long weekends kill me.

Why Men Shouldn't Puppysit!

Why yes, that is my baby covered in mud ♥

I'm a Grandma!!

I received a really great birthday present from Dawnanna...her beautiful baby girl was born a couple of days after my big day! We had just started the home inspection when she texted that she was admitted to the hospital. After rushing that along and rushing my inlaws who were driving down with us, we made the 12 hour drive. Sadly we missed the birth, but we were there only a few hours late and were able to snuggle with our new little one. She's adorable with her ten tiny toes and fingers!! She was 20.5 inches long and 7.8 pounds, which is quite a bit smaller than the doctor was predicting. Touched with a little jaundice, they have been visiting the doctor everyday and taking her out in the sunshine for small periods of the day. Mama and little one are doing well =)

Mexican Chicken Casserole

I was told no more grocery shopping before we move so we can use up what we have in the house already.  I'm getting creative with my cooking now lol.  I made this the one night, and it turned out surprisingly good, leftovers were even better!!

Chicken Mexican Casserole (serves at least 9)

1 can Rotel
1 can creamed chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 small container sour cream
1 small can jalapenos (optional)
4 cooked chicken breasts
1 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
1 box cooked pasta (penne rigate, something small)

Mix all the soups, Rotel, cheese together in large bowl.  Add your choice of peppers and chicken, when well mixed, add pasta.  Pour into 9x12 baking pan and pop into the oven for 30 minutes.

My Scarf Addiction

While I'm at work I do devote a portion of my day to my pinning to perserve what's left of my sanity. I'm a proud Pinterest addict (which you can find me here.) Since I'm slowly packing up all my treasured junk, I've been paying special attention to how to get myself organized. No better time that the present right? I've seen a million pins about how to hang my "few" scarves, which I think makes it easier to find than all thrown in a pile on my dresser.  I bought the heavy wood hangers (less than $5) and clear shower hooks ($1.16) from WalMart.  I guess I didn't realize how many I have because I needed two of the hangers.  Then I thought it was such a great idea, I hung all my bras that way too.  For your protection, I'm only showing the scarves!!!

Looking for New Roofs

As my post a month ago said, I'm in the market to find a new roof to have over my head.  I did discover one thing while looking, rent is outrageous here. To find similar square footage is around $1200 a month. So after looking at countless apartments, we decided to go big and buy a house. You'd think that at almost 40 we would have already did that, but we have a habit of doing things a little backwards. Now, onto finding a house, and finding a house fast. We enlisted the help of a realtor (hi Bev!) who has the patience of a saint. Scott and I have in mind what we want and realize it's not going to happen so we have to find something that we can work with.

I was told this was common in older homes, it's planter

I saw A LOT of purple, pink, and yellow bathrooms with matching tubs

The hunting wasn't going well...until what I thought was the house of my dreams...this beautiful 3 bedroom on 18 acres!!!

This house had everything that I could ever ask for...a master bedroom/bath/closet of my dreams, fireplaces, 2 car garage, and out in the middle of nowhere. It had been on the market for a long time, but it wasn't selling. The bank dropped the price to the most amazing figure, and we immediately put in an offer, but it just wasn't enough. There was 16 offers on the house sadly enough. It was quite a distance from where we are now, so maybe it was a sign...off to keep looking.

Baby Shower Lovelies

Better late than never, here are some pictures of the baby shower that I hosted for my step daughter.  I didn't get to put as much effort as I wanted with everything else going on, but it went great and I received a ton of compliments (thanks Pinterest!)   Daughter was happy and that's what matters most.  We hosted in a local state park cottage, and I highly recommend doing it!!  We were comparing prices and this won out by a landslide.  Since it was on short notice to begin with (had less than a month), it was difficult to find spots and most averaged around $100 an hour.  WHOA!  This beautiful all wood cottage with a fabby kitchen and fireplace was only $95 for the whole day!!!

Beautiful Cottage with a deck and grilling area

All wood inside and held about 40 people

The cake balls were a big hit

Scott divided everything up so it was rotating

Cannot believe how much soda we went through
Didn't think to take a picture of the actual food

Lots of gifts, her first so she needed everything

Everyone filled out a wishes for the baby and mommy sheet

My Sad iPhone & How it Almost Caused Divorce

I heard you ask why my iPhone is sad, thank you for asking =)  I know you're really puzzled over the divorce part.  Last Saturday I texted the Love of my Life if he wanted me to bring him lunch at work.  I sent him an adorable pic of Layla with one of her little rubber cheeseburgers and told him that she wanted cheeseburgers for lunch.  No answer.  So I went back to bed.  Woke up, still no answer.  Fine, he's busy.  We're two hours past the end of lunch, and I still haven't heard a peep from him.  Now I'm not gonna lie, I was a "little" pissed.  When I took my LaylaBoo out for a little sun time she was playing with the neighbor girls and I snapped a few pics and sent him one.  Nothing.  Nada.  Crickets.  Now he works a twelve hour shift, so I have a long time to mull over my pissedoffness.  By the time 8pm rolls around and now the crickets aren't even chirping, I have decided I'm going to break his cell phone with a hammer...a small craft one of course.  That way I can pound on it a couple of times.

So...he walks in the door, I'm nice, I'm polite, there's smoke coming out of my ears.  I ask why he couldn't answer my texts to which the reply was "I did, right after you sent them.  I was wondering where my cheeseburgers were."  HUH?  He showed me where he had indeed replied.  Fresh crow served daily.  Now I'm in love with my iPhone, I sleep with it for pete's sake.  So I KNOW it can't be my precious that isn't working.  We were going to CiCi's for pizza (ironically they have Cheeseburger Pizzas, my puppy would be in heaven) and as we're about a mile from the house, all these texts start coming through.  Like I said, fresh crow served daily.  Still not my phone.  No matter that the texts were from different people, not just him.

Fast forward to Monday.  He texted me twice to tell me he's not going to make it home for dinner.  I cooked dinner, veal parm.  Now those that follow my blog know it's a special day when I cook dammit.  He's not home, I'm not happy.  Puppy is, but she's always happy.  I have now come to realization that my precious is causing a divorce.  I've already divided up the furniture, and decided the happy puppy is mine.

Today I spend a little Googly time and realize that my precious iPhone has a problem.  Apparently there's a lot of preciouses that have problems.  It's a common, well known issue, dating back to last fall.  THEN FIX IT DAMMIT!!!  We could have had a fatherless puppy.  I found some directions on Verizon's website that say update by dialing *228 and do option 2.  That updates your roaming capabilities.  Now I know I wander around the house aimlessly for hours on end, but I wouldn't consider it roaming.  If that doesn't work, reprogram your phone by using option 1 instead.  If all else fails, reformat the phone?!  And lose all the pictures of my beloveds?!  WHAT?!  Insert iCloud here.  Apparently I can put all my photos on a cloud and it will save them.

Current time update:  Have precious plugged into my computer with her USB cord and it's doing a back up.  It's been going at it for 2 hours already, and has a guestimated four hours left.  I have two gigs of pics, etc on my phone.  Holy cow.  Thankfully no music or we'd be here all week.  As far as I can tell, just updating the roaming has worked, I test texted two people and we had conversations about buttered popcorn (thanks Christina, you made me eat half a box of Cheeze-its).  When all my pics are happily stored on the cloud, I will let ya'll see what I've been up to this month.  Loves to you all!!

Where I've Been, Where I'm At, and Where I'm Going

Um...I don't know lol. I have been super busy the last two months! And I swear one of these days I'm going to post it all!!! I have pictures to prove it =) I hosted my daughter's baby shower for her little girl in March. That was an adventure that may deserve more than one post. I had drawn out several pages in my notebook about how I wanted to redecorate this summer, had even bought all new blinds. I had the puppy in classes for six long weeks. Only one night a week for an hour just about did us both in. I've been looking for a few small pieces of furniture to refinish to round out the house.

Which brings me to my present. I'm moving. To where I have no idea. We lease a townhouse in a condo allotment and after 16 years they have decided that they would make a lot more money if they renovate and sell. So my neighbor and I got the boot at the end of last month. We have till the end of May to find a new place because they will be gutting them both out and adding an additional floor.

It goes beyond words how heartbroken I am. I've made this our home and I really love it here. From previous posts through the years, you may remember I live on a lake with a dock in my backyard. I love the smell of algae (yes I'm aware that is really strange). I love listening to the geese, mallards, crickets, and frogs do their thing all night. Scott is so frustrated that we are hurrying to find a place. We were going to rent but both of us didn't realize that apparently rent has gone up in 16 years. What we are paying for a large amount of square footage has practically doubled in my area. We've decided that we are going to buy a house instead. To which I'm very excited about, but in turn, the searching and packing in a short amount of time is wearing out my brain. I'm stressed beyond belief.

One good thing is I'm definitely getting rid of stuff! There's an organizational blog somewhere out there that would be really proud of me. The other night Scott came home right after I got out of the shower and asked why I was still wandering around in my towel. I had to admit I had accidentally over packed my leggings that I wear around the house...and the tops roflmao. So may that be a lesson to those of you moving...be careful what you pack...you may need to wear it tomorrow!

I would like to document my journey for the new nest. I've already taken pictures of houses we looked at, etc. so I can share with you at some point. My camera and iphone are full of pictures of future posts so at some point I will return to blogland. Going to try to keep up with y'all though...much love♥

The Plumber

If that's what you call it anyway lol. This post is going to be an English teacher's worst nightmare...DO NOT get out the red pin lol.

My kitchen drain ended up clogged, but I wasn't sure why. I took the drain pieces parts apart, nada. Snaked in the wall, nada. Called my coa (condo owner's association) person who thinks I'm a woman and it's going to be an easy fix. I hurry home from work the next day since he's going to be there waiting on me, promptly at 4 pm. I don't hear from him, after an hour I send a very nice reminder text and ask if everything is ok *sigh* nothing, at 6 I send another text, you know, just in case the other one didn't arrive *sigh* nothing. Three hours late (he forgot), here he comes with a bucket and a snake, no tools (keep that in mind, you'll need it later). It starts off with him opening the cupboard under the sink and asking if I have any pipe wrenches. I do, but you don't need them for those new fangled pipes. Oh, good. I watch him take apart all the pipes, snake and then says after 15 minutes it was fixed. He then hooks everything up and runs water. I know I don't have to tell you it wasn't fixed. So he takes it all apart again (after he uses my bowls and towels because he didn't bring any). So he starts snaking again AND broke it off in the wall!!! Yes, I said he broke the snake off in the wall. Not sure how that happened, but all I thought was a sailor had been under the sink instead. Soooo...he ask's if I have a tiny mirror, why yes, I have a dental mirror and let me get you a flashlight too, you'll need it. A half hour later, he calls someone and was whispering. After that he asks if I have a sawzall and a hacksaw. Why yes, yes I do...after he used the sawzall to cut huge hole in cabinetry, took 1/2 hour to find the snake, hooks up another snake, says, oh I know it's fixed this time, THEN stands up and WASHES HIS HANDS IN THE SINK. Notice I didn't say anything about hooking back up the plumbing in the wall yet. Water EVERYWHERE. He hooks the shit back up, not fixed. Tells me he'll be back tomorrow with a plumber. At what point he decided maybe a professional should look at it I don't know. I say 4 o'clock on the dot, then he says, well could ya text me and remind me just in case. See, he was going to the bar to have a drink and wasn't sure how things were gonna go. I told him if he ends up in jail the one and only phone call he should make is to the PLUMBER!! Sooooo....

Fast forward to next day (Friday), I kindly text my lovely coa guy at 3 and remind him I'll be coming home in a bit and wanted to make sure we still were ok with our plans. Nothing. Maybe he doesn't have his phone with him. I hurry home. Would you be surprised if I said he wasn't there by 5? He finally calls me. Well, the plumbers don't work that late so they can't make it out til Monday, maybe around noon. I thought plumbers were 24 hours. These are not. Well, they are, but since he's made such mess he'll pay for the plumber, and he doesn't want to pay overtime. Fine, I'll be gone most of the weekend, but I can't make it home by noon on Monday. I have a job, imagine that. So I suggest Wednesday. Nope, plumber is busy. They only have one plumber?! Well, no, but they have a big job to do, and my kitchen sink doesn't compare. Fine. We settle on Thursday, but they refuse to come out any later than noon. I leave work early. Not happy. They run the snake, within 10 minutes, "Ma'am, your sink is ready to go". Huh?! What?! "We snaked 50 feet and your drain is cleared, everything is ok for you." After a whole week, you have no idea how thankful I am that this is fixed. Now my drain DOES work, I only have this giant whole in the back of the cabinet with the pink fluffies hanging out because COA guy threw out the board *sigh*

A Catch All Post

I'm sitting here at work (what else would I do here on a Sunday at 7am?) wondering what I accomplished last month. I broke a few things does that count? My car with the 33,000 miles has a "small" exhaust issue. Ok, truth be told, the pipe that goes into one of the mufflers decided it didn't want to be attached to the car anymore. I won that argument and showed it who's boss. I did the proverbial wire it up until I'm done with other purchases (like a phone). Good grief my priorities are horrible lol.

I'm going to tell ya about my plumbing issue in a post all it's own. Yes, I feel it is that good!

I did review my resolves that I put in the last post. So far I've already blown #1.

#2...sucked at this one too.

#3...kinda' sorta. Looked into this Aflac-y thing that Scott's insurance agent offered since I don't have insurance through my day job. I have to write the check, looks like a good plan for me. So this is a start.

#4...I did manage to get rid of some junk. So far there are 6 bags ready to go to Goodwill, and I prolly put at least 5 loaded bags at the curb. I also found a few cool ways to get my closet under control, so yes, that'll be another post. I have all these posts planned, better get my fingers in control and start typing *s*

#5...I've kinda' done well with the whole cooking thing. Last week was veal parm, homemade meatball subs, meatloaf and taters, nachos, and smothered chicken with macaroni. Didn't bake, but I cooked, and that is like a really big thing for me!!

#6...well I've pinned more =)

#7...camera? Has dust on it.

#8...haven't been into any baby type stores to buy any cute goodies...have looked on line though.

So, looking back at the month, not too bad.

Linky Thingie

I'm feeling technical today =) Since I'm so behind in the bloggy world, this is prolly going to come as a surprise. I'm actually up to date with something lol. I just added the Linky Follower to my sidebar over <-- I removed the Google one when they got all finicky. So if y'all could make my days and follow me, I'll be sure to follow you. Or stalk. Depends on my mood!

My Goals, Wishes, Hopes, Dreams for 2012

I hope everyone had a memorable Christmas and New Years!!

I wish you the best year ever filled with love, laughs, good health, and wealth ♥

Wow, I didn't realize I haven't blogged since October!! I didn't even finish my Halloween posts =( I have a new computer now, so hopefully I don't use that as an excuse anymore lol. I didn't forget about my blog, as a matter of fact, I think about it all the time, especially as of late, but my lord do I lack motivation. I have so many plans, goals, etc. but my pillow just calls my name so loud when I come home from work that I can't hear anything else. I'm going to list all of the things that I would like to accomplish this year, so this could be a long post. You may want to grab your Diet Coke or coffee and get compfy!!

Goal #1: Ok, I'll list it...make an effort to dust off the ol blog on occasion. I have taken so many pictures and thought of some great things to post, but I just never have. I'm going to start making a blog weekly calendar to see if this helps me. The one I'm starting off with is from Amy at Living Locurto.

Goal #2: I know everyone always says this, but I really need to find myself some financial stability on my own, and not have everything linked with hubby. Hubby has paid off all of his credit cards and I need to do the same. Kudos to him, but I'm so jealous at his resolve. I'm going to start small, try to cut my purchasing of scrap kits, craft supplies, clothes, shoes, purses (ie: all the necessities of being a girl!) and start paying off the credit cards, and maybe start a savings account. My scrapping could make a dent in the National Debt!!

Goal #3: Another one that everyone hopes for: do something, anything really, about my health. I actually did go to the eye doctor last February, so that was last years that I accomplished. I have a thyroid problem that I was treating, but have stopped over the last few years. Need to get myself going with that. I would also like to restart pilates or yoga. I did enjoy them in the past, so have to pull out those DVD's. But again...the pillow calls...maybe I need to buy a quieter pillow!!

Goal #4: Organize and purge. Actually I should have reversed that but whatever. I've been stalking so many blogs lately and realize after looking at their beautiful homes that I really need to get rid of some "items". I did get a lot done last year, but this year, I really want to put my foot down, carefully of course, you never know what I could step on =)

Goal #5: Cook and bake more. This is another one I do every year. I blame it on hubby because he doesn't like a lot of variety in his food, and he doesn't eat a lot of the same cuisine that I do. I have collected a hardrive full of recipes so I'm going to try to menu plan. I see this on blogs so much, and it really seems to work for them. I'm hoping that helps with the grocery shopping too so I'm not just buying things that sound good at that moment.

Goal #6: I would like to go room to room in my house and finish or rearrange my decorating. Sometimes I fall into a rut and I've been so inspired by all of you (thanks Pinterest). I'd like to do a lot of things that I've pinned and renew my love of my house. I have a ton of crafty supplies and I need to start using them before I have to dust them =)

Goal #7: I want to be BFF's with my camera. I've had the little guy a year now and have just recently started to photograph in manual. There is hope for me, so those that are posting photography tips, keep at it, I need those!!

Goal #8: I'm going to be a grandma in May and I would like to be ready for the little girl when she arrives. I started shopping as soon as I knew, so that is helping. My goal is that everytime I go out that I purchase one thing. Kinda' kills goal #2, but I'm doing it in moderation.

So...I think that's it for now. Lists like this I know are always meant to be improved upon!! Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

xoxo
