Why I Won't Become a Grafitti Artist

Are you asking yourself what I did to come to that conclusion? I attempted spray painting. All the painting I have ever done in my life has been with a brush. I did get this idea that I needed to practice because I want to put up some new shelves in the bedroom.

The first mistake is: hubby and I were at WalMart picking up an extension cord, I tell him I need spray paint. He kind of reminds me of a parent taking over a school project lol. We go down the spray paint aisle, I pick up a can of black paint and a can of primer. "Are you sure that's what you want?" I say in my best knowledgeable voice "yes, this is what they picture on all those blogs I stalk read". He just looks at me and proceeds to look over every brand of spray paint there is, tell me what each is for, then ask me what I'm doing. I tell him I don't want the dollar a can stuff, I really like the choice of colors from Krylon, and I don't need Rustoleum, that looks like outside stuff. So we start going through the colors. "How about this one, it's a nice shade of blue, or this green is ok". I decide on watermelon because I want to do a few frames to hang on a black/white damask board. "You only need three cans?" *sigh*

The second mistake is: "Do you want me to show you how to use it?" No, I can read the directions. So out on the deck I go with my newspapers and frame from Michaels. I layer the back of the frame in white primer, looks ok after it dries, but it needs another coat or two. I must have layered it on a little thick because it now has drips on one side. No big deal, I'm hand painting part of the frame black anyway. Turn frame over, spray other side. Dries ok. Spray another layer. Go inside and wait "patiently". Go back outside. Damn if the wind didn't blow my top layer of newspaper into the wet paint. I pick up frame, notice I have the paint to thick in one section as it's still wet and now stuck to my hand. Pick up newspapers, realize that because there was a slight wind, I now have over spray on deck. Think of how I can blame this on the neighbor kids. Throw frame on kitchen counter to dry. Hide it when he comes home.

Eventually I will finish the project and then post a picture. I couldn't get a close enough picture of the horrific drips or the newsprint. At least I still have my sense of humor, and the cats aren't white.

Friend Makin Monday

Yes, I know it's not Monday lol. I just saw a link up for this and I thought it was an awesome idea, so I wanted to do the last one so I remember to do the next one. That makes sense, right?


1) What's your favorite brand of make-up? I only wear Maybelline Ultra Liner and Maybelline Great Lash mascara. I'm not particular about brands of lipstick.

2) What is the last thing you drank? Diet Coke.

3) What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie? Samoas.

4) French Fries or Onion Rings? Onion rings from my fave dive bar!!

5) Share something you've done in the last week that makes you proud of yourself. I was proud of myself when I was selected for another test project at work that could affect how they do new hire training from now on.

6) What is your favorite inexpensive indulgence? Costume jewelry...I have so much now that inexpensive is prolly out the door lol.

7) Are you currently reading a book? If so, which one? I'm not currently reading one, but my next one is book #5 in the Night Huntress Series...gotta love my vamp books.

9) Have you ever performed on stage? If so, what did you do? Yes, I was in grade school and I rang the bells at the Christmas show for the song "Carol of the Bells".

10) Are you more likely to pick truth or dare? I've been fortunate enough never to play this game, but if I did, I think I'd choose truth.

Friday's Shoegasm

As some of you know, I have a leopard addiction. AND O...M...G...these little booties fit the bill!!!! I do think the all pattern is a bit much, I really am loving the black with the trim, but then the red looks awesome too! There $69, and they don't come in my size *grrrrr*. you know people with big feet like to look cute too ya know?! Friday's Shoegasm

Posting my Shoegasm a little late this week. I have found an amazing shoe site called Dino Direct. I so need to win the lottery!!! On to my choice for today...the sexy pair of red platform heels that I'm in love with!! They're $30 and free shipping. I didn't check to see if they have my size, well because...if they did, the next picture you'd see is them on my feetsies!!! Aren't they gorgeous?!

Finally...

...I got around to making a decision on what I wanted to do with all my crafty goodies. My craft cave is also my step daughter's bedroom when she lives here, my space for my purses and shoes (yes, I'm aware I have issues), and usually "THAT" room that has the door shut when we have company. I'm trying to convert it into something less traumatizing. I purchased a really cheap inexpensive bookcase from Target for $16. The last time I was in Jo'Anns they had photo boxes for half price so I picked up several, still a few short though. I think the French themed decorations on the top cost more than the whole rest of the unit lol. For the last two months Michaels has had their Ashland French line on sale so I've been picking up pieces here and there to add to the collection, and I'm almost finished. The lettered photo holders are going to hold pictures of Paris shortly. I also have decided on my labeling system, now I just need to decide on some creative tags. You know you just can't type something up lol. I was thinking of stamping each label. So without further ado....

So y'all need some extra germies running around right? Ugh, well, I made the mistake of answering that ad lol. Monday was the start of my demise and the best way to describe it is I was feeling miserably miserable. I'll spare ya the nightmarish details, but let's just say it wasn't pretty for about 13 hours there. I even called off work! That is something I never do because I feel that it's just a woman's nature to want to share...her germs *evil laughs*. No really, I was just raised with this annoyingly good work ethic. Yeah, thanks Mom. So I had two days of no work and I didn't get a thing done except for sleep, whine, and play favorites between the couch and my bed. The bed is my fave though in case you were wondering. So it's Friday and I'm still blah, but I have my sense of humor back and I know you're all thrilled about that! Aren't you?!?!
